Explodation
Game • Feb 8, 2026
A rage‑bait 2D platformer where you must launch yourself with unreliable grenades — succeed by skill, survive by luck.
About
Explodation is a short, intentionally frustrating 2D platformer built for Garena Game Jam #3 (theme: ”Nothing Works As Expected”). Inspired by Getting Over It, the player can walk normally, but vertical movement depends on throwing grenades near their feet to catapult themselves. Grenade explosions are not guaranteed — sometimes they simply fail to detonate — and aerial control is deliberately limited, forcing players to master timing, positioning, and the chaos of chance.
The result is a compact, rage‑bait experience that mixes practiced skill with unpredictable outcomes. A narrator delivers taunting voice lines and commentary at key moments, adding personality and a Getting‑Over‑It–style emotional beat to each run.
My contributions
I worked on the player movement and intentionally limited aerial controls to emphasize grenade use, the grenade-throw and explosion mechanics including physics and RNG for failed explosions, the UI and feedback systems with visual and audio cues for grenade state and narrator triggers, and integrating narrator voicelines and timing them to gameplay events.
